I was lucky to grow up playing outside, running around barefoot, climbing trees, swimming and having fun. I had a rich physical practice that I didn’t have to think about. Then I played high school sports and learned important lessons about discipline. But I also learned that chasing numbers in competition can be more about pleasing others than experiencing joy. After college, working from 9 to 5, sitting at a desk, and grinding out mindless workouts at the gym, I felt alienated from my physical self. 

One day, on a whim, I signed up for an Ironman. I wasn’t a gifted endurance athlete but the experience taught me how important it is to carve out time for physical pursuits we choose. I feel the most joy when I am actively engaged in the pursuit of physical learning—I love trying new sports and hobbies. 

I have spent close to a decade training, competing and coaching Muay Thai as well as working with different tools of physical culture like kettlebells, sandbags, and barbells. I have worked with some of the best strength coaches and personal trainers in New York City. 

I know how important it is to build a meaningful and joyful physical practice. I want to help you create one.
